Hi all International preschool teachers - I'd like to know if preschool teachers get paid for school breaks or over summer holidays? I am looking to accept a 2 year contract position at an international preschool. Just wondering if the laws here are similar to those in the U.S. Thank you.

Are you being employed through an agent? As this is the only time that I have heard of people not being paid for school holidays (as the agent may arrange for other work during school holidays). If not, then I would say that it is highly unusual and unless the salary is high enough that it makes up for the lost salary over the holidays then I would not sign with this school. By holidays I am meaning all school breaks - Christmas, Easter, CNY and summer. If it is just summer then I have heard of schools not paying for the summer break but as long as you are resigning for the next school year they give a bonus of one month's salary so it equals out.
