Just received shocking news that Yoga Limbs is closing down!? I have paid for a teacher training course in October and have barely started my lessons! Anyone else in similar situation?

Hi there!

Yes,

i am in the same situation. I signed up for the YTTCP in September and am half-way through the programme.

Very disappointing, especially because i devoted a lot of time and energy to this course, and now i am not sure i will be able to complete it.

Wanda sent a message to teacher trainees saying that they are looking for a solution, at least for trainees.

She might be able to offer workshops etc in a different location, maybe at a student's home.

But i start to worry because i haven't heard anything since Monday.

If you send me your email address i will include you in my mailing list, so that we can share information. I am in touch with about 7-8 trainees.

Also, you can contact members directly by visiting the yoga limbs page on facebook. Once you visualize the page, if you click on Yoga Limbs + Others, you will see a few recent posts on the wall.

Trust me

Dont be fooled by there acts of kindness it is all a FRONT, I myself undertook the teacher training program, and was disappointed by the lack of management and service to a paying customer,i even had an injury, which put my training on hold for nearly a year they promised me everything when i had a meeting with them as soon as i turned my back they totally ignored my emails, requests and deleted me from the mailing list, when i returned to Hong Kong I had heard the news of there closure, they were all smiles while taking the money knowing full well they would go bankrupt, i would like to know how we can get our money back and would appreciate any information related to yoga limbs

To all of the students who lost money at Yoga limbs you can start by,writing a letter of complaint to the Yoga Alliance stating the name of the school and Wanda Hewitts who is a registered member ,there actions are not in the code of conduct clearly outlined on the yoga alliance website.the more support we show the yoga alliance the more this can be prevented in the future

i agree with Olessia512 and have done so. Yoga Alliance is taking the matter seriously.

If you want to know the disturbing details of the legal enquiry made by some teacher trainees into YL and the new school, please write a message to me. I cannot post the details on this forum because i would breach the conditions set out by asiaxpat.

I've naively been expecting Wanda or Dennis to contact me with an explanation of what's happened and how they intend to meet their obligations to members of the now defunct yoga limbs.

My patience snapped when I received an invitation to join "Yoga Plus Life" for "just $500 per month" with the added bonus that Wanda would be one of the teachers. Looking at the schedule is is obvious that Wanda is the principle teacher at this "new" school.

I've written an email tonight asking for an explanation (hopefully the yogalimbs email still works) but if no reply I will contact Yoga Alliance and see if any legal recourse is available.

The amount of money involved for me is quite minor but I'm disgusted by the manner in which this yoga school has been folded with no attempt to keep the membership informed or offer of refunds / alternative teaching. All the more disappointing as I had a lot of respect for Wanda and hugely enjoyed my yoga under her tuition.

Complete lack of integrity. They opened the new school with OUR money...in your case the amount of money was minor, but still no excuse, some people joined just days before it closed down, and teacher trainees paid HK$ 20,000 for a certificate they never got because they couldn't complete their training.

I just found out that Yoga Limbs has revamped its website (it had been down for a long time) now they are offering teacher training courses only. I wonder where classes will be held, considering that the studio was closed down by the Wanchai District Court. Probably at YogaPlusLife, given that it's owned by the same people.

What a scam!

Last January Yoga Limbs was forced to close down after failing to pay huge debts. The school was evicted from its premises in 69 Jervois Street while hundreds of students and teacher trainees were left in the dark about the future of the school. I personally lost HK$ 20,000 and wasted six months training for a teaching certificate i never got. Now Selda alerted me that Yoga Limbs has reactivated its website www.yogalimbs.com. I checked and it doesn't provide any address nor phone number. I also believe that classes are held at YogaPlusLife, another school owned by the daughter of YogaLimbs' owner. Her daughter has no yoga credentials and act as a cover for her mother, who de facto runs YogaPlusLife. Because of this separate legal status, victims of Yoga Limbs fraudulent activity cannot claim compensation from YogaPlusLife (YPL).

So, YogaLimbs is back in business and yet has no physical existence, it's probably just a website that directs unknowing consumers to YPL. Another yoga scam in the making. Beware, consumers, beware.
