USA: Holidaying with Helper?

ORIGINAL POST

Hi all,

We are planning on a holiday to the USA for myself and family and would love to bring our helper a long with us. Has anyone had any experience organising visas for visiting helpers?

Thanks,

Thanks for the replies. She is Philippino and not Muslim. She joined the family in Australia last year for two months but that took some convincing. In the end they only allowed it because my wife was pregnant and traveling alone with 3 kids.

As suggested - no harm in trying.

Bit of misinfo here.

It's not that difficult to get a visa for your helper to go to the US. Just contact the consulate. You will need to get her a working visa, and put together an actual working contract between you and her while she is in the US. The contract is relatively simple, I don't recall if I used a sample one from the consulate website or just googled for one on the net. In the contract you need to specify working hours, and agree to pay them at least US minimum wage.

I had one helper rejected and one accepted. I believe the first was rejected because she has no "attachments", i.e. she was single, thus, considered a higher risk of going AWOL when in the country. The helper that was accepted was married with 3 kids. Neither of us are US passport holders.

For UK visa - the helper needs to have worked with you for at least one year. You also need to have a work contract agreement - but in this case the UK consulate provide samples. I don't think the US has this requirement.

Wow, way to pontificate Rumdoodle!

She is a helper, she isn't the mother. She is employed to do a job just like anyone else.
