AV, design and sound proofing required

Our family is moving in a couple of months to our new flat. We're looking for advice on whether there is a renovator or AV technician that can help us out sorting out the wires so that we can make it baby proof. We want to hide most of the equipment too so that our 2 year old can't get to it. We would like to know whether they can also sound proof our baby's room so that we won't disturb her when she's sleeping while we're watching TV or listening to our system.

Most good renovators can help you with the wiring. What I have done is put all my equipment in a study the is located behind the TV/living room. So in the living room all you have are the screen (mounted on the wall) and speakers (can also mount on wall as well but since I have floor standers, these are on the ground).

All the wires to the TV goes behind the TV and into the room behind. The speaker wires are also wired through the walls to the amps in the study. So no speaker wires on the floor, no visible tv wires, no electrical plugs since these also are routed to the study. If I had wanted rear speakers, then I could have put wires through the drop ceiling to the rear and then into the study as well to the amps.

An infrared remote receiver/emitter system controls the cable, amps, bluray, etc from the living room. You can't see the channel on the cable box, but easy enough to check the screen. You can 't see the volume on the amp but easy enough to hear the volume that you want.

My next project is to load all CDs onto my iMac which is also located in the study. Feed the iMac into a standalone DAC, and then into my amp, I can have all my CD collection in one spot. Using a iPad, iTouch or iPhone, I can control the iMac using a Remote App. I can listen to all my music from the sofa without having to change a disc. No more visible wires.

The study where all the equip is located can be shut off from the rest of the living room and don't have to worry about kid going in there and messing about the electrical stuff. Messy wires are out of sight. Heat from equipment will not affect the rest of the house (put a small fan in there if you have concerns about overheating).

I did my own research, but if you want to spend some money there are professional AV designers out there who can also help you select the right equip.
