Hello,

I am about to move to Hong Kong very soon coming this April. I have heard if you live in Hong Kong for 7 years straight you become a naturalized citizen. So does that mean I just keep renewing a tourist or workers visa yearly until 7 years has went by? Also can I own a vehicle and trade in my Virginia/ USA drivers license to drive and own a car in Hong Kong even though I am not a citizen? The only other question I have is if it is possible to rent and buy property in Hong Kong without citizenship? Thank you so much in advance !

Note that since you would have residency and not citizenship, you can lose it again if you don't meet certain requirements regarding how long you stay in HK each year.

Yes as long as you have an employment visa or capital visa. You don't trade in your licenses so much as use it to get an HK license without having to pass a test. Costs about HK$1200 and takes two weeks processing.

Renting or buying property is no problem without citizenship or residency. I don't even think you need to live here, but I'm not sure.
