Not quite what you're asking but I've found Norton to be ever more a huge resource hog over the years. A free Antivirus like Avast or AVG will give you the same level of protection for nothing and won't slow your computer down.

I guess you can download a free trial version on Norton's website, then use your product key.

If it doen't work, I recommend you Ariva, the Antivirus I have been using over two years. And It's free.

i finally found live support from norton. they were able to help me install what i wanted. they did this by remote access to my pc. but i don't think i'll do that again. it took 3 or attempts with different techs. each time they crashed my pc and it took forever to figure out how to reboot it

Glad that worked out.

I still highly recommend you get rid of it. It is not quality software. Symantec has been living on the Norton name and lucrative corporate contracts for years while the product has gone down the tubes.

i have a year subscription that came with a prior pc purchase. when the subscription is up i probably won't renew. i am hoping to buy a mac before then so i won't need virus protection

You will definitely need virus protection on your Mac. They get viruses too, although there are fewer viruses for Mac and the OS tends to be less vulnerable than Windows in any case. In fact , a friend of mine got a virus on her Mac just last week. It was sending out spam emails from her account left and right.

iAntivirus is a good free antivirus for Mac.
