Hi,

I am staying in Hong kong from last 11 months on employment visa....and now my employer is going to start employment visa extension process.

My spouse had dependent visa valid till my current employment visa expiry date(with few days to go for expiry 13-March-2011) and has HKID.

within next 5-10 days i will get my employment visa renewed.

I will not be applying for dpendent visa extension of my wife for next 2-3 months.

Do I need to apply again for HKID of my wife alongwith new dependent visa process? does HKId has any expiry date? or it will just exist but with invalid status and can be used later on for specifying in the forms like ID997 (for dependent visa)

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Ab

You have to apply to extend your wife's visa again, in much the same way as your original application. It is pretty straight forward if your circumstances haven't changed. IMD should give you a two year employment visa this time around and therefore your wife will also get a two year dependant visa. And yes, you have to pay for it again.

IMD seem to provide employment visas as one year, followed by two two years and then a three year which would see you through the seven years.

If a dependant passport expires anywhere in the middle they will only provide a visa to the limit of the passport. (Then you apply and pay again when they have a new passport!). I seem to remember that with my work visa I just carried the old and new passport, but they wouldn't do that for dependants.
