PayPal illegally holding money

should have posted this here before:

I've been selling some items on ebay recently and receive payments via PayPal (HK account).

As of yesterday PayPal froze my account, holding all my money on it. The reason being that I am apparently selling some high priced items (I was selling my own used Leica M7 and some other DSLR (used lenses)).

Now they're asking me to provide proof of purchase, I need to submit my invoices to them to proof the items I sold are not stolen! I think this is a complete outrage, especially since I already got positive feedback for some of the items which the buyer already received.

I've heard lots of horror stories about PayPal freezing accounts for no valid reason.

What can I do, other than providing my invoices... they request invoices are not older than 6 months. However I was selling my used items, they're older than 2 years, for some I don't even have invoices as I bought them long ago second hand.

I don't have a lot of money to pay for some high caliber law firm to represent myself, what can I do against this?

I find it disgusting how they abuse their power and I'm sure this is against some kind of law. Any good advice would be highly appreciated.

update 8th April. Don't see any other option so I submitted all the stuff they asked for. Still no word from them, they keep holding my money!

Did you also get PayPal to pay for your legal fees? What was the bottom line?

It's been a week now and my account is still frozen. Have sent PayPal a message with no reply from them. What they do is disgusting.

Any law firm willing to take my case pro bono? Sure it would be good promotion.

There are whole websites dedicated to problems with PayPal with thousands of people having exactly the same problem as you. Basically you have to avoid paypal, they are a bunch of scumbags who steal money. I hope you get your money, and I hope you learn from this and stop using them.

I just noticed there is a ban on paypal here. I'm thinking what gives? So I do a search here and this is really a shame. They are only doing this to you guys because you are in hong kong. They out right ban certain countrys from using paypal and or ebay, rightfully so because of the rampant scams and the fact they are too far under the poverty line. But hong kong? This reeks of racism. chinese-dont-want-to-pay-full-price-for-anything kind of snide moving-the-goalpost manner of speaking. I got gipped by them when they had x.com bank. I found out from others the exact thing. They stole checks. X.com didnt last long and they ended the bank along with the beampay they used to have for palm pilots.
