and i've had a 7 cm chocolate cyst removed in 2004 from my left ovary just so another could appear on my right ovary in 2006. since then, i've been monitoring every 6 months with an ultrasound and it's been hovering between 2-3cm and one time, it even disappeared completely. but yesterday, the doc told me that there are two cysts stuck together, both measuring 2-3 cm each. my mother is pressuring me to operate and i know this disease is incurable so i am thinking, 'what's the point?'. she thinks i should get a hysterectomy but i heard that it still doesn't eradicate the problem. any advice out there? i've already decided not to operate.

A hysterectomy may not cure your problem as the cells causing the chocolate cysts are outside of the uterus. If you are past childbearing age or certain you will not have children, then you can try this approach. However removal of the cysts as they appear is a more common approach, as well as medication to regulate the hormones. It all depends on the severity of the symptoms and if you are willing to tolerate them.
