ORIGINAL POST

Hi All

Just wanted to say I recently stayed in a few serviced apartments and if anyone is looking for suggestions, come to me.

I have had two OK, one good and one awful (will probably go into litigation on it) experience so far.

Given that we are not allowed to name and shame on this forum, best you send me a message and I can let you know the name of this place.

Cheers

Hi,

I can respond here as long as I don't speak bad of anyone. I have stayed in four serviced apartments in my time here so far. V Serviced Apartments on Causeway Bay Road, Yin Apartments on Wellington Street, Presidential Apartments in Jardine's Lookout and Parkview.

So, V Serviced Apartments are stylish on the face of it but when you look through it, there isn't much substance. Two bedroom place crammed into about 900sq ft so not the biggest. Having said that, service was good and it was perfectly suitable for my situation plus it was close enough to town/ transport to make this a very pleasant stay. Rented the one with the roof terrace so had a few BBQs and hosted dinner a couple times. Nice and clean too as they come clean up everyday. Had a good mix of equipment too so it could feel like home if you added a few other gadgets.

Next was Yin. This was very stylish and very centrally located. Too central for my liking not because of noise or anything but because of natural light and space. I know it's a lot to ask for HK but you can find these places if you look and are prepared to compromise. V cool layout but strictly for one as it's a large studio - about 650-700 sq ft or so. Very good service as the desk is manned almost all times and issues are resolved quickly (I only had one issue during my stay which was bath plug not working - could be worse). Has a tiny gym there too so you could work out if you wanted. Great noodle bar and very close to escalator so if you are a party animal, you couldn't find a much more suitable place than this. It's probably quieter than the ones in Soho too so good compromise.

Next was Presidential Apartments -.......................

Now I am in Parkview. This is the best serviced apartments I have stayed in. I wouldn't say it is stylish by any means but the service is top class. On arrival, I got a nice basket of fruit/ fridge full of drinks and food/ explanation of all the equipment and services (same happened in Yin and V). The apartment itself is a two bed two bath place. It is not massive but it is very comfortable due to being a slightly older building so the useage is very high. Shuttle bus into town takes about 17-25 mins to Central where I work so not too bad a commute at all by anyone's standards, especially to be in such peaceful surrounds. Finally, the convenience of the pools, tennis courts, squash courts, gym, supermarket, dry cleaning etc, makes this the most convenient/ satisfying bang for your buck. Food downstairs in the restaurants is not cheap but I rarely go there as I would be in town for food etc. Me and the missus are considering renting here for a longer period or possibly buy so, needless to say, I would highly recommend this place.

We were also considering Repulse Bay but the infrequency of transport (she works in ICC), lack of faciliites, lack of supermarkets/ restaurants makes Parkview (albeit a pretty ugly spectacle from the outside) a good compromise.

Good luck guys. You can PM me if you need to ask anything else.

I agree that you are paying more for a services apartment but you are also paying for convenience. If work is paying, hassle of buying / renting furniture, organising maid (live in is only legal way) and other stuff like Internet, phone, electricity, gas etc seems like a pain. Unless you are certain you are staying for more than 12 months, it's the convenient option; just jot a cheap one. I will be renting a normal apartment later as I have stuff coming from uk ao it makes sense and you do save a good $15,000 per mOnth on a similar place. Can buy you a few beers......
