Hi,

My husband has been transferred to Hong Kong and we will probably move this summer. We have three under-five kids and have a househelp in our current location whom we would like to bring with us to Hong Kong.

Does anyone has experience on how to get work visas for househelp? any leads will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Pretty sure Indians are allowed as cara says. As I read this http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_1.htm#helpers , the law only limits certain nationalities, India not among them.

There are 250000 foreign domestic helpers (FDH) in HK so the procedure is standardized. All the details are here if you really really want to read them: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/foreign_domestic_helper.htm .

You must use an agency if she has not worked in HK before. AsiaXpat has a good one. I suggest you contact them. They can deal with all the paperwork and answer your questions. http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/helpers/ .

BTW she must live in your residence.

Tons of info in this forum: http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/forums/hong-kong-domestic-help/
