Hello everyone,
I hired a company to ship my personal items from LAX to HK. The container has arrived at the port. However, they are telling me that I can not unload the items there and need to move the entire container to my house and back again. They are of course willing to do this for me for an extravagent fee - 10,000 HK. I have already paid several thousand US to move the items from America to HK and would like to keep the costs down. Any contacts or suggestions would be most helpful. I only have 5 days to arrange this. Please help!

A friend did it about 3 months ago from HK to the UAE. It was a full 20 foot container picked up and packed in HK (he did the packing) and unpacked and delivered in the UAE 14K. You need to know your way around the logistic agents of they will add on the charges.

My relative shipped from NY to HK (partial container) naively paid the HK end of clearance procedure before shipping to find out that the company on the HK End never received the remittance from the NY end. I think she did receive the money back for the balance after a lot of yelling and report to Consumer Council, Better Business Bureau, Small Claims Court in NY End. Fortunately she had not departed NY and had time on her ends to do so.
Moral of the story, do not pay the obvious HK end.
Sorry I don't have the HK end company info at hand to pass to you. Hopefully you have found someone reliable to do so.
