I am considering an position to relocate to HK for a great opportunity (Potentially) as I am taking equity in a company but need a few pointers............

I have been used to leading a fairly good life in the UK and Dubai, salarys 60-70k per year (Tax free in UAE) but I have a Chinese girlfriend and even though she has a UK Visa we both prefer Asia, (And hate the UAE) Hence looking for new adventures..........

I have been asked what I am looking for financially as a basic wage but I dont want to price myself out of the Market, but also dont want to live on bread and cheese.............

I wont bore you with the job too much as thats probably irrelavent, but its in Sai Kung.

What money do I need for a 2 Bedroom Appartment with kitchen, living room and 2 bathrooms? Will $10000 - $15000HKd per month cover this? (I am struggling to find property in this area to rent and on the internet)

Forgetting about saving etc for now how much do I need for 2 of us to eat out a couple of times a week and eat good food/drink etc pm? Another $10000 - $15000 per month?

Also what is Sai King like and I cant actually find out on the web how far it is into the centre on Hong Kong? It it a train/cab or Aeroplane!!??

Mant thanks for your help people, I look forward to your replies.

No you will need at more. I would think twice as much but not sure.

40 minutes drive.

Depends on how frugal you are but I would think more unless 10-15k is just food/drink and nothing lese.

Have a look at the property listings on the menu here - check Clearwaterbay/Saikung - that'll give you an idea what's available.

Depending if your girlfriend is from here she may be able to find other sources or check out the larger HK property agencies.

Sai Kung has a fairly large community and plenty of bars, restaurants and activities - travel to/from Central is fairly easy but a drag if you're going for a night out.

If 10K is for groceries and eating at home it should be more than enough for 2 of you for a month.
