I am a British expat living and working in HK running my own business for the past 10 years. I'm considering returning to the UK for a couple of years, and would like to know whether any future earnings from my business, which I intend to receive an income from be subject to double taxation?
I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Hong Kong and the UK enjoy a double tax agreement which in short should alleviate “double tax”….however, there are many other considerations which should be explored BEFORE you leave Hong Kong. Such review could move you to a position of paying no tax on the profits of your company in the UK, affording you the best tax position visa vie Hong Kong and the UK on a personal tax basis and in addition to solve your UK domicile and estate related problems.

See a tax adviser who is capable of handling UK/HK international tax issues. I can only think of Debbie Annells who runs her own firm- she's very well known in the tax/trust community.
