Just bought a new computer with win7
I have downloaded iobit system care 4.
What free Antivirus or other software is recommended/essential.
I used to use AVG free in the past, is there a better option?
What does IOBit 360 do?
I know this question has come up before, but that was about a year ago, a long time in computers. Options may have changed.

NB. Further Q.
Is it worth buying anything?

I use Avast Home. I find it better than AVG and just as free. IObit system care is great but no need to keep it running all the time.

Thanks again axptguy38.
Do you recommend that I uninstall my McAfee now? or is there no need?

I am not a big fan of McAfee. Not as bad as Norton/Symantec but still a clear drain on system resources. So I do recommend you uninstall as soon as you have installed Avast Home. Really no need for McAfee once you have Avast and the built-in Windows Firewall (make sure this is on).
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download . BTW Avast will ask you once or twice if you want to upgrade to the "for pay" version, even offering a trial period, but there is no need.

Microsoft security Essentials. It is free and has the best chance of finding virus as Microsoft are the only ones getting all the crash reports of applications. I am sure that there are cases where others AV release signatures for virus detection quicker but overall it is good.
Microsoft is also very good (loe)in terms of CPU utilization and does not slow the machine down much. It does this by using more memory that anti-virus systems. You are looking at utilizing 60MB-150MB of RAM, so you really should have at least a 1GB of ram if you want to run it, otherwise Avast or AVG will make the machine faster.

Hi Fenix
Do you mean MS security essentials instead of or in addition to the others.
I think I got 2GB of RAM

MS Security Essentials is enough by itself. A fine package.
