HK Sim card for cellphone?

Can someone tell me how my friend coming from New York may use her cellphone for a month stay here in HK? Can she purchase those sim cards and just replace it in her Samsung phone and then use it? If so, where do we get it ? I know, I'm totally blank here. Thanks anyone!

It depends on two things:

- Is her cell phone GSM? If yes, it can be used as long as it is not operator locked.

- If her cell phone is locked to an operator it cannot be used. If it is not locked, she can get a pre-paid sim card.


Pre-paid sim cards can be bought at any 7/11.


You can get a cheap phone for a few hundred at any number of little shops.
