Hi guys,
Long time reader, first time poster, and I have ran a number of searches on the topics. Although I found some information helpful, I just wanted a more specific opinion on the matter.
I left HongKong in 2001, and before I left I think I might have incurred a phone bill of around HK$2500.00, which has not been paid for (we left in a bit of a rush due to SARS and a few family emergencies), and have not returned to HongKong since. Anyway, we are planning a trip to HongKong at the end of this year, and I was wondering, have there been any legal actions brought up against a bill of this size? What sort of legal action would occur normally?
By the way, the phone company I was with at the time (Orange), does not operate in HongKong anymore from the looks of it.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Joe

Bump, Could someone please help me out here, or point me in the right direction?

If you are just here for vacation then the company which may have purchased Orange (I think it was PCCW) or Orange's debts would have a very hard time serving you with civil process.

Orange is now CSL

Thanks so much. Yeah I am only stopping over for around 5 days, and I am happy to pay for the bills, just not getting a criminal record over it.

If you are "happy to pay for the bills" then why not telephone CSL, give them your old account number (or phone number) and settle the outstanding bill with them? Then you need not worry about anything.
It's really very simple.
