I lived in HK from 2000-2004 as a single man and obviously had fun ! Since then and back in England I have the chance to come back to HK but this time with my wife and 3 young daughters - 5,2,1 yrs. Given the documented pollution is this the right thing to do ? HK would be great for them but am worried about pollution and its associated potential health problems..can I have some advice please !! cheers

Apart from the pollution and crowding I would say it is a fantastic place for a family. Our kids are 5 and 4 and I think they are having a great upbringing here. In fact we find it much better than our suburban life in Connecticut. They have friends very close by and don't have to be driven everywhere.
Pollution is the big question. Some people can't abide it and others just accept it. It's not something there is a definite answer to. Depends on the person.
HK is very safe. There are great schools but it is currently very hard to get a spot at the international schools. You should definitely look into this aspect. Hiring a helper can free up quite a bit of "quality time" with the kids.

Hong Kong is a fantastic place, BUT the pollution is dreadful! Do read other posts in regards to pollution. It does affect the health of many and many do leave as a result of the pollution. I would advise you to think long and hard about the effects the pollution here would have on young children and their developing lungs.
