My wife's work place is going to be around Central and mine is at Kowloon Bay.

So, ideal location will be at max 10 minutes from central and upto 40 minutes from Kowloon Bay

Must haves

- reputed child care center/pre-school probably connected to an international school

- restaurants,entertainment,basic shopping

- health club

- easy access to travel around HK

Any suggestions ?

40 minutes to Kowloon Bay covers a lot of ground.

There are few inaccessible places in the urban areas of HK. Travel is almost always easy given the ubiquitous and efficient public transport.

- Tin Hau (International Montessori School is there and all the other schools on the island not really far)

- West Kowloon has some posh new buildings.

- Tai Koo.

- Wan Chai around Star Street.

Restaurants. Depends on what you crave. However if you want to be 10 minutes from Central you will have no problem getting to restaurants in the evening either.

Well, Repulse Bay is only 15-25 minutes to Central and I find it quite nice cara. ;)

Many thanks for your feedback.

you are right, i should have mentioned budget.

we intend on spending upto 20K HKD on apartment but have no idea if this will be sufficient to get approx 500 sq feet.

we have a 1 year old baby and were wondering if the suggested areas had acceptable air quality ?

Also, we see Discovery bay mentioned several times, will it be too far from Central,Kowloon bay ?

Thanks

You will easily get 500 square feet for that budget.

Disco Bay is further than your time constraints.

On HK Island, anywhere from Causeway Bay to North Point.

On Kowloon side, Olympic Station (maybe 15-20 mins to Central)

I don't know much about schools in those areas so can't comment on that.

If you would consider a longer commute to Central, I think Kowloon Tong near Festival Walk is a good area. Commute to Central and Kowloon Bay is about equal -around 30 minutes on the MTR. They have a lot of schools there. Not many places to eat - just the restaurants/cafes at the mall. They are decent and there is a cinema and ice skating rink at the mall.
