I left my husband of twenty years for another man 7 years ago who I am still with. I have not been happy for a long time and am thinking of leaving him but I don't have any money and am not sure if he will give me any if we spilt up. Would it be possible to get any money from my ex who I am still married to?

Hhhmm Griffin... why didn't you sort all this out years ago? Are there any children involved? How is your relationship with your 'husband' now - my guess it's not so great seeing that you ran off with another man after 20 years of marriage. I know there are always two sides to a story, but I just don't get why you don't leave or divorce your husband before finding a new partner.
I'm definately no legal expert, but Im not sure the courts will look too kindly on you, given your actions and the fact you havn't needed any financial assistance in the last 7 years while with your lover. Still - you should still go ahead and process the divorce and 'split' any assets you both may have from your time together (ie. not after you left him) but I think any claim for 'spousal maintenance' may be a bit much, and given the circumstances, downright unfair and just rude.
Why can't you just get a job and support yourself?
