I need to get a Cerificate of Good Conduct, CGC from Hong Kong. I live in Hong Kong , but I will need to submit it to a EU country. I am not even sure if this is the right name. I need a Certificate probably from the police stating that I have no criminal records, I paid all the taxes, I didn't commit any offence in Hong Kong. I have checked the websites and found that HK Police will only issue such certificate for : "The Department issued a "Certificate of No Criminal Record", purely for applications for entry visas to travel or live in another country, or apply for adoptive children use. Requirements for the issuance of any other purpose "CNCC" applications will not be accepted. Anyone has any experience? Thank you.

Contact your consulate.

You will need a letter saying why you need a Certificate of No Criminal Convictions from eg prospective employer. Take it to your consulate who can then give you an official letter, for a fee, saying you need a Certificate.

Then take this to the Police station on Arsenal st. 14th floor where they will take fingerprints and charge a small fee. Then it will take approx 1 month to get your certificate.

This is how it works for British passport holders.

I hope this helps.

Thank you. We do not have a consulate here so I will have to go to Shanghai. Do you have any other alternatives? I would like to ask this Certificate of Good Conduct as someone who has been living here in HK for 5 years with HK ID.

I have a similar requirement (to obtain a HK Certificate of No Criminal Conviction) but I am currently living in the UK. I was in HK from August 2011 until February 2014.

I have been offered a new job in the UK but the new employer needs to perform a background check on my time in HK.

On the Hong Kong Police Force website there is a form for overseas applicants, but the supporting notes seem to indicate that I cannot use it for my specific purpose:

"Notes to Overseas Applicants

The issuance of Certificates of No Criminal Conviction is a charged service provided by the Hong Kong Police Force which is solely in connection with a person's application for a visa to visit or reside in another country, or for adoption of children. Applications for the Certificate for any other purposes will not be accepted.""

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction?

Thanks.
