Hi all, I left HK last year after living there for 6 years to return to Sydney and for my partner to give birth to our healthy son who is 4 months old. Now we want to return and I have a confirmed contract that would see me travelling extensivelly again.. My partner (Chinese) will need to work again next year for her Visa status but I have no idea about early child care etc for a full time working mum? We do not want a maid... She is a high level manager; what are the difficulties in finding professional care for a 1-2 year old from say 8am to 7pm? I believe the cost would be about 70-100K a year???? Really looking for both positive and negative experiences from both mothers and fathers... Thanks!

yew chung international school, kowloon tong enrol from 1 year old, but not full day care. I do recommend it though ...i teach there and they have a 75 year history in hk, bilingual chinese/ eng ( mandarin starts mostly in primary but they are exposed to canto and mandarin every day. Play based and they avoid the pushy acaademic way of many schools here.u would need a helper to take bb to school. Why dont u want a helper?

Thanks Cara and chykeman. I didn't want a maid because I like my freedom and personal space, also do not want to pay high rent for a 3 bedroom apartment to house a maid and to give everyone space... From both of your responses it looks like if both parents want to work the only pratical option is for a full time helper???
