Hi All,
Sorry this is not about Hong Kong but Zhuhai.
I'm currently in the UK, the company I work for have a manufacturing plant in Zhuhai China with around 250 staff, they have asked me If I would like the job of sourcing manager in this plant managing a team of around 15 buyers, they have not confirmed any of the details but believe this would included serviced apartment, health insurance, a number of flights per year etc.
I visited the plant last year for a few weeks and really loved the area and the culture of china and hong kong etc, I'm quite willing to put the effort in to learn mandarin as I believe this is a must if living in China.
My question is what salary do you think this job should command, they have not supplied details of the package yet, so I really need to know what sort of money I will need to survive and live a good lifestyle.
We already have a few expats living in Zhuhai and I have spoken to them a little before and they all love working there and say they feel very wealthy becuase they really only spend money on food and drink? but I can't ask these people about their salaries as no one is currently aware I've been offered this job, also I think they will tell their boss I asked this question and this is the person who offered me mine.
Looking forward to your replies.

wow RMB 150k/ month for just a sourcing manager? where can i sign up?
If you're going to work in Zhuhai. Live there. I think you have the right idea.
As for pure salary, ex-housing and additionals, its a huge fluctuation. A friend of min works in SZ, is a sourcing manager and manages 20 people, originally from his NYC office and gets RMB 50k/mth, not including housing, home stays and additional perks.
One thing you need to take in account, is that you will need to spend time and money with a tax consultant regarding applicable taxes to your salary.
good luck
