Does anyone know what Shenzhen is like during this holiday? Is it business as usual or has everyone shut up shop and gone home for the holidays?
What about Macau?

The LoWu shopping mall is not affected. Fabric/tailors on 5th floor may close up as may other tailors on other floors but other than those places all other shops are open as usual.
If you do go to LoWu expect masses of people on trains and immigration. The Chinese will go through and on to their families whilst we 'gweilos' go shopping and have the place to ourselves.

thanks, Dasia. I am fabric shopping so will go to a curtain shop but also a sheet shop in the fabric market. If all of these are open, Iam thinking of going on the Thursday/Friday of Golden Week. Otherwise, on the Monday/Tuesday of the following week. Which do you think is better?
