Home Goods & Furniture

Hi,

Just moved to HK and trying to decorate our new apartment. Does anyone have suggestions for furniture or home goods (linens, towels, sundries) that would be a little nicer than Ikea but not as expensive as Aluminum or G.O.D?

I am thinking along the lines of Crate & Barrel/CB2 from the states, if that helps.

Thanks!

Try the local (home-grown) and long-established department stores (i.e., the equivalents of JC Penny, Macy's, Lord & Taylor in the US). There are two--Wing On Department Store and Sincere Department Store. They are located almost next to each other on Des Voeux Road Central (closer to Sheung Wan); they're just above the Sheung Wan MTR station.

Try also the Japanese department stores like Sogo in Causeway Bay or Jusco in Tai Koo Shing (the MTR provides easy access...just go to the Tai Koo Shing MTR station on the HK Island blue line).

Hope this helps.

Horizon Plaza in Ap Lei Chau - entire building full of furniture stores. For more local furniture, try the Max mall at the Kowloon Convention Centre (forget the name) right near the Red Box Mall.
