Hi all,
We are in the throes of finding our first apartment here on HK Island (midlevels West or Central) and are footing the bill on our own. we are looking for a 3-4 bedroom over 2000 sq. feet. Am seeing prices that are astronomical!!! I know that for purchasing, the market has been tanking, but has anyone had any luck getting landlords to take 20% under asking. It just seems like the rental market still thinks it is same as last year at this time. Anyway, if anyone has any recommendations, would love to hear them.
Thanks,

Depending on your budget, I think you should quote the figure you want to give (realistic ofcourse) . You will be surprised at how much the landlord will finally agree on. Another benchmark could be the rentals on the building you are interested in.
