Searching for a Venue & Assistance with a Fundraising Event for our School in Africa

Hello HK community,


In 2008 my wife & I assisted with the opening of the first secondary school in a very small, rural village in northern Tanzania ... although we are now teaching in HK, we have remained heavily involved with the operations of the school.


Our school is completely funded by donations and grants, and with extreme inflation in rural East Africa, as well as the fact that we have just enrolled our 4th class of students, costs are increasing and we would like to host a small fundraiser in HK.


As a first event we simply want to host a small "silent auction" with drinks and munchies. Does anyone have an idea for a venue (preferably free)? Does anyone have ideas for people/orgs/companies that might donate items for a silent auction?

Thanks for the idea about the Fringe Club ... I'll have to look it up (my only fear is the cost, we are hoping for a free venue which will simply make money from drink sales and/or food sales).


Silent auctions go by many other names too ... basically there are items with sheets of paper, and guests write their bids on the paper ... at the end of the bidding period, the guest with the highest bid wins! Good times, and a fun way to raise money!
