Parents watch out for your kids... i think we should demand more ofitial security around the beach especially at night.

HK resorts should and must give more security.

last week i saw something that freak me out... at the piazza... was some dealing going on... 2 asian older man and a western boy around 16 ...

I thing we should all come together and protect our kids in a better way and request more security in DB.

Yes, some low paid security guards will stamp out drugs.

You got it right with your first six words.

I suggest taking a photo of the 'deal' and the dealers with your phone and contacting the police...

Dont tell people to talke photo of the "deal", you are just putting that person in danger, if he or she is seen doing this. Just call the cops and there is no need to take a photo.

There used to be a business in a flat above DB plaza which sold computer time with porn access in time slots, alcohol and cigarettes to teens. They got shut down at some point and moved to a flat 3 doors up. If there is a market, someone will provide the service.....that's the way it goes and with so many bored teens, it happens all the time.

It's not just DB, it's everywhere but DB has a concentration of school age kids and limited activities, what can you expect?

Well I was not quick enough to take a photo... because at first i was trying to figured out what was going on...

Second yeas i will do something about it since i haev kids as well and im really worry.

that fact that their is a demand doesnt make it allright ... and i know is everywhere but we live in DB and as parents yeah as parents we should do something.

will be good if some ppls bring some ideas .

we should ask or even demand to HK resorts to provide real police not just security guys aroud here.

Adele78... so you are telling me that is ok that kids are indanger just because not enought things to do in DB? i thing maybe you can move somewhere else...

Doncella, no, it's not OK but it is a simple economic fact that if there is a demand for a certain product or service, whether it be legal or not, someone will provide it and make a profit. You are a little naive if you believe that people will not exploit this fact in illegal or immoral ways -and yes, we have in fact moved out of DB to a part of Hong Kong which has a multitude of safe activities for kids/teens. DB, as you very quickly learn when you live there, is not utopia. We have 2 sons and want more for them than DB offers. DB's a very convenient place when you have small kids with all the playgrounds and playgroups but if unsupervised, by the time they get to 7-8, they start looking for trouble and by the time they hit 12, they will have found it.

It's not a criticism of DB in particular, but there are plenty of options in HK which offer a more balanced lifestyle.

Doncelle, if you wanna do something for your kids, educate them so they won't get the idea of using drugs. Do you really think, more security guards and better observation will solve the problem? If so, we shouldn't have any such problem anymore anywhere in the world......

Sure enough, keeping eyes and ears open and report suspicious actions is necessary, however, the first step starts with the parents, don't you think so?

doncella. Report it to the police. If you give your name and ID they will neraly always act especially if kids are involved. I once reported a heroin-shooting gallery in a part of Mid-levels after I saw a load of syringes near the footpath where my kids used to walk. The police closed it down. No more syringes. End of story. HarryB. Most parents educate their kids. Whether they listen or not is a different matter. Best policy is zero tolerance.

"Best policy is zero tolerance."

Yes, because it's worked so well in the rest of the world...

I would suggest the best policy is education

I can asure you that my kids has been educated about it since they are young... however they go out as well and i cant be 24/7 on the watch... moreover they live in a society that some times put presior on them.

Im not saying the more security will be it... buy hey it could be an start.

i have seen parents that have tolerance to this kind of addictions because they said that they have done when their were young and they dont see the problem.

my point of view is Prevention over cure... i cant send police all over teh world but for sure i can promote better security why not?

Loyd i agree with you "zero tolerance " better than rehab right.

i may be to extreem but im concern not only for my kids but for all the kids in DB .

>>HarryB. Most parents educate their kids. Whether they listen or not is a different matter.<<

How do they do that? By buying the fastest computer and peripherials and that's it? Placing the kid in front of the computer or alternatively the TV set, so they are silent?

Zero tolerance is not wrong, but not the sole helper. What does it help? Trafficking places are moved elsewhere, a dealer arrested is within minutes replaced by a new one - and you think, the kids are too dumb to find the new dealers and their location? No, my friend, make them listen to your education, only that helps!

Exactly. If you kids want to get hold of drugs, they will, and there is *nothing* you can do to stop them (without making it worse).

I wouldn't blame only the parents but I think if the parents raise their kids well then there is a much lower chance they will have the desire to experiment with drugs. The only thing I would be worried about is the crime associated with drugs in your area, e.g. burglers, attacks, etc.

This drug dealing biz must be stopped and must be dealt with swiftly. Criminals need to know they cannot establish their base in DB. Yes, I am sorry to tell you, there is a correlation between after school activities and teen crimes. Teens must be kept busy afterschool in a supervised setting. They need to feel good and confident about themselves, afterschool activities give them a chance to build/rebuild their self-esteem especially if they are not achieving academic success in school.

Go to the police and make a report. They will put some undercover people in the plaza. They are pretty efficient.
