Same sex couple wanting to start a family - is HK the place to do so?

My partner and I (both female) want to start a family in the coming years, and at the same time, are considering moving to HK. I am from HK and have lived there on and off all my life, so am familiar with HK in general, but am not sure if it would be a good place for a same sex couple to start a family. Would love your thoughts / advice:


1) Do you know any same sex couples with kids living in HK? How are they faring?

2) How friendly do you feel schools, medical facilities, community organizations, etc. would be to this family structure?


Among younger circles, same sex relationships don't seem to be an issue, but my fear is that various bureaucracies may not be quite as friendly.

Thanks Cara for your thoughtful reply, that's what I fear, the institutional and legal challenges ... Doesn't seem too promising, unfortunately ... I wonder when HK will change!
