How many english speakers in HK?

I'm curious to know an estimate of how many english speakers there are in HK. The govt website says 3.2% but they are referring to native english speakers only. I know there are a lot more than that. I'm talking about anyone with a basically functional level of english, including native speakers and anyone with english as a second language. Anyone point me in the direction of some statistics? Thanks.

Well if there are no statistics, lets start a poll, and at the same time, see if we can break an Asiaxpat record for most number of responses to a thread, I'll start.

Yes. Wife left for the UK last night so it's now 1,747,000. Actually thinking about it it's 1,746,999 coz she talks enough for 2.

The phrase "most number of responses" is not English, White Mischief.



The phrase "most responses" is shorter, and is also correct.
