Eng Teacher wants to move to HK

Hi, I'v been teaching English to kids in Taiwan for 3 years. I want to relocate to HK and am wondering if I would be employable with a University Degree and 3 years teaching experience (no certificates).

Currently I make about 18k HKD, and save around 10K HKD a month. I live simply in a small studio without many extra expenses. I know the cost of living is much higher in HK than in Taipei, so, are English Teacher salaries higher? and would similar savings be possible by living simply?

I appreciate advice from any xpat Eng Teachers.

Has anybody escaped the Eng Teacher trap and actually found a business job after teaching for several years? I have a Degree in Marketing from a good Canadian University but only have a few years sales experience after graduation before I move to Asia. Do I stand a chance getting back into business in HK? I'm willing to take an entry level position, but would anybody sponsor me for a visa at an entry level?

Ugh, life, what has it come to, what to do? Thanks for any thoughts.

have been teaching english in Hong Kong for 3 years. I have worked mostly in kindergartens, had a short stint in a language centre and done some tutoring jobs too.

JUST THIS WEEK i found the invoice from my kindergarten to my teaching agency.

$1600hk per day

=$200hk per hour

the income i generate on my own is

=$32,000hk per month

However my teaching agency (teacher supply company) only pays me

$900hk per day

=$112.5hk per hour

the income i receive per month

=$17,920hk per month

My agency takes a cut of

$14,080 every month

=$140,800 per year (10 months/40 weeks)

This is the most useful/up to date/un-biased info u will find on the web about what kindergartens are willing to pay for a native english teacher right now in 2012. $200/per hour its a modest total but hard to get your hands on it with all the greedy agencies out there.

P.M if ur interested to know what agency im talking about.
