It might help if you send her a letter confirming that she took 6months of paid/unpaid leave and you're expecting her to come back on some dates (a range may do). When helpers come in (into HK), their contracts are verified (not sure if it's everytime they come in or just the first time they arrive with a new contract). Since the visa is still valid (affixed to the passport), there should be no problem, imo.
The letter is just to cover questions from the immigration officer if at all.

[UPDATE] Please note that fee quotes stated in historic postings may be out-of-date.
It certainly would be best to have a supporting letter; indeed the Immigration Authorities should ask WHY she has been gone for such a long time….under her contract she is meant to be working in Hong Kong.

Just keep it simple (like a business letter).
To whom it may concern, this is to certify that "name" is my FDH. She went back to her hometown on maternity leave and will be back to my employ on "date-range depending on flight availability". If you have querries regarding her employment with me, I can be reached at my phone number 9999-1111.
Or something to that effect. I hope that helps.
