My baby dropped my iPhone 4S in the toilet!

I checked online for what to do and people are saying to put it in a bowl of uncooked rice to dry it out.

They also say, don't turn it on until it's completely dry.

The problem is, it was already on when it was deposited into the toilet. After I fished it out, the camera flash on the back will not be turned off. This adds to the heat of the phone.

I tried to dry it with a hair dryer and took out the sim card to dry it. Apart from that, I don't know what else to remove to dry.

So it's now sitting in a bowl of uncooked rice, with the camera light glowing underneath the rice grains...

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Problem with unremovable battery :). If the battery was removable, the light should be turned off already.

I hope you can recover your phone functioning again.

Aiyaaa, seems like my phone is dead! :-( It was a 60gig one as well!!!

Can I buy the new iPhone in Fortress? My husband bought his handset in an Apple Distributor and they said they can only bundle the phone with a $500 cover (which I'm sure is illegal for them to do so! If they are a distributor, they should just sell the phone and not make people buy an expensive cover!) So I don't really want to go to that shop.

Can't buy from my phone provider because I just signed a new contract... Apple online store is ünavailable". I might also try to get the phone fixed but usually, when you have a broken iPhone, Apple ALWAYS say that it can't be fixed and you must buy a new one.

Damn!

My sister had the same problem. She took it to the Apple Store, which replaced it with a new 4S for HKD 1600. Worth considering :)

Hi there,

Yes thanks. I contacted the people I bought it from - CSL 123 - and took it to their repair centre. They showed me the water sensors, which is where you plug in the charger, and the headphones socket, and in there you can see there is a red color, which means it has water damage.

So I got a new iPhone 64gig for $1900, which I thought was great!

Cool!

I would guess though that your damaged iPhone will be refurbished (damaged parts replaced, etc.) and resold. Maybe that's where the 1,600 or 1,900 HKD goes?

But still a great deal compared to having a broken unit!

Yes, that's what I was thinking too, that they just salvage the parts and sell it again! It makes you wonder how much all the spare parts are worth and how much they mark up the retail price!

Anyway, I'm happy and relieved and never letting my kids touch my phone!
