Hi,

My daughter goes to a school where 5-6 teachers are involved with the class.

It's a small school so I know almost everyone there. If I give Lai See to everyone it will be over my budget.

Would it be rude to give only a big box of nice chocolates? Is there any other sugestion that may be better than chocolate?

Thanks.

i don't think giving laisee is a good idea, if you really feel the need to give something buy a nice basket of fruit

Total agree with Turtle. Nice basket of fruit or even homemade cupcakes etc would be a nice treat. Something that can be shared would be nice.

It depends, are the teachers Chinese? if they are not they wouldn't expect Lai see,

Even if they are Chinese then they may not necessarilly expect Lai see.

Lai See is traditionally given as a token of appreciation from older, or more senior in possition ie 'the boss' to younger people, or people who do a regular service for you The token is say 10 or 20 hkds, in a red and wishing them kung hei fat choi (maybe I didn't spell that correctly), is greatly appreciated, and that alone may be enough, or maybe get your child to make an appropriate new year greeting card for the teacher, the effort put into that by a child will be greatly appreciated. You could probably google ideas for a greeting card design on the web-it will be the year of the dragon.
