Where to buy plantation shutters

ORIGINAL POST

I"m trying to find some reasonably priced plantation-style shutters for our windows. Does anyone know of a shop or a carpenter who specialises in these? I would be extremely grateful for any help!

Thanks, Sarah

Hong Kong is ridiculously expensive for that, although they do use the better HunterDouglas brand. There is a store in Wan Chai. I ended up getting the wood shutters from China a few years ago and installed it myself. Came out to $16k versus $80k. Not sure if this is valid but contact shannon-shutter@163.com

Good luck

Hi Sarah

Spooky! I was just about to ask the same question, and found your thread! Please let me know if you have any joy with the email vicster gave you, or if you have any other contacts I may try.

Many thanks!

Hi Sarah,

How did you go with the shutters? I am looking for the same thing...just like in the Aus magazines, but have found them to be so expensive too or not of good quality.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers

Hi TTD

I didn't go too well with the shutters! I got quotes from 2 companies who visited my apartment: Pan's Collection and Cotton Tree Interiors. Both were expensive. I also looked at getting them from a company in China, but they required a far bigger minimum order. Pan's gave me the cheaper quote but Cotton Tree gave me a more considered assessment....that the shape of my windows/position of a/c units meant shutters would be ideal. Given the expense and the compromises (eg not all shutters could be folded open against the wall) in the end I went with one small shutter from Pan's Collection (very happy with it) and got blinds for everywhere else. Cotton Tree made some gorgeous white woven bamboo blinds, backed with linen and with a linen border, for the bedroom, that cheered me up about the failure with the shutters!
