My Wachine machines and Dryer are in the outdoor, covered on the top and semi covered on the sides.
So it does get battered by the moist air on all sides, Now I notice that the unit is starting to be gather rust. As this is 2 years old, perhaps it will run for another 1 or 11/2 years befor this willgo caput.
So the issue is did the two unit pay its way in its usage life of say 3 - 4 years? I am also thinking o of the environmental impact of tossing out the old.
Or do I create a enclosure around - which will need to be air tight (Pretty much).
Any views?

I can't remember what it cost back in January 2001 so I don't know if this is of any help in your calculations, and I know I'm tempting fate by saying this but my (Electrolux) washer/dryer, which is indoors and used almost daily, has just had its 11th birthday. I've not even had to replace the rubber door seal - no rust, all components are in very good condition and it still works perfectly.

That is indeed amazing.
My Siemens are already rusting after 2 years. So I think I need to take them in or make an enclosure.
