URGNET - BABY DELIVERY MATTER

ORIGINAL POST
Posted by MacB 13 yrs ago
Have been asked to help from a freind's family.

Expectant mother arrived from overseas (not China) to reside in HK. HKID is pending but it will be issued before the delivery date est.early April. The problem is she cannot find a hospital to take her (earliest date is now October according to most public hospitals).

Money not an issue so are there private options that she can take? I've no idea so just want to ask for help on her behalf

Any advice welcome

Lots of private options, but even those are getting packed. Apparently the Matilda (widely considered HK's premier maternity facilty) is completely booked until September but could be worth looking at.

You could try the following facilities;

Adventist Hospital

40 Stubbs Road

Tel: + 852 2574 6211

Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital

2 Village Road - Happy Valley

Tel: + 852 2572 0211

St. Teresa's Hospital

327 Prince Edward Road – Kowloon

Tel: + 852 2711 9111

Matilda International Hospital

41 Mount Kellett Road - The Peak

Tel: + 852 2849 0111

Canossa Hospital

Address: 1 Old Peak Rd, The Peak, Hong Kong

Phone: 25222181

Alternatively (if you don't want to call round all the hospitals listed on that page), it may be an idea to set up a consultation at Central Health Medical Practice (3rd floor Baskerville house, 13 Duddell street, Tel: 2824 0822), which is run by Dr. Lucy Lord - a specialist in maternity healthcare (OBGYN). They may be able to give you advice on which hospitals could potentially have a bed available, and can help you to arrange a booking.... You may not get your preferred medical facility but should be able to sort something out.

The other option is to wing it... make no booking and show up at the emergency room once labor starts. It's risky and if the hospital is completely full you may not get a bed, even if they do admit you to the ER - but this is the tactitc which has been growing since the reduced quota on Mainland mothers was instituted at the start of the year.
