Hi, I'm new to Hong Kong and living in Happy Valley. I have 2 kids who are 4 yr old and 18 months. Could anyone recommend any Mandarin classes around the area? Thank you!

We are also in Happy Valley and we used to go to Mandarin for Munchkins in Central. The traffic was really terrible in the mornings so we switched to Sunkids which is right in Happy Valley!

The Mandarin teachers are really lovely there and the place is nice and spacious!

There are several places you can go in Happy Valley depending on what you are looking for.

a) Han Yuan - this is more geared towards local schools and for children 3+ only I believe. There is a basic curriculum that is followed and taught by teachers in a small group setting of 4 kids per class. Great if you want to really push your kids and helpful if you yourself understand Mandarin. The main branch is on Ventris Rd and the younger classes are at Hooley Mansion. My son goes to a bilingual school and I've put him in the K1 class here and he really enjoys class.

b) Sun Kids - they have several different age group and class types and is generally learning through playing and song. Great if you kids are younger or new to Mandarin. Sun Kids is on Yik Yam Street.

c) VMC Academy - it's a music school but they also teach Mandarin amongst other things. They are located at Hooley Mansion. My son does art class and a group piano class here and LOVES both classes.

Hope this helps!
