Offered 100K/month 50K Housing Allownace/month

Was wondering:

1) Is that enough for a young couple to live comfortably in HK?

2) Am I better off asking for a combined salary of $150K/month or separate it out? It doesn't make a difference to the company right?

Thanks!!

How long is a piece of string? A lot depends on what sort of life you want to live, but a package of $150K is okay.

There are tax advantages in taking a housing allowance as part of a package. Also, your employer might prefer that you live in a reasonably comfortable standard of accommodation, which is why some employers do not allow any unspent housing allowance to be cashed out.

1) by almost any standard

2) no, see tax comment and 50k housing gets you 2-3 bedrooms max in soho/mid levels

I should have said that the size of the package must be related to the size of the job, it might actually be well under the market. A lot of people would love to earn 150 a month, a surprising number of jobs pay a lot more.
