Hi All,
Gave birth 19 days ago and noticed my bleeding never stops. Went back yesterday to the hospital and after an ultrasound scan, was told I have blood clot in the womb which could be a piece of placenta left inside.
I have 4 kids including my new born at home waiting for me. Hospital is giving me antibiotics but was told if that won't work, I have to undergo a surgery.
My midwife friend said it's obviously the hospital's fault. Anyone heard of similar? Can I lodge a complain?

You may lodge a complaint with the hospital and/or the medical association once you are fully informed of the facts. Should you want to file a civil action against the hospital, you need to, as a plaintiff, establish that there was negligence or fault before you are entitled to compensation.
Importantly you will have to determine your "quantifiable damages".....you must determine what is your economic loss? You will need to consider the appointment of appropriate litigation solicitors and medical experts to review your claim; as but one step will be your need to engage a medical expert to prepare a report to establish the negligence of the hospital; you certainly cannot rely on anecdotal comments from friends and dwell wishers.....

Your midwife friend, if she is an expert in the area and registered in HK should draft an expert opnion stating the reasons why the hospital/doctor is at fault and back it up with the relevant scientific information. Then you should approach a law firm to determine if your case has any merit and any chance of success.
I suspect if you ask you 'friend' to hold her account to the law she will quickly back down. These sorts of comments are not helpful, in fact they usually are detrimental.
I'm not trying to make light of your situation but the fact of the matter is it doesn't sound like much went wrong with your birthing experience. You've a bit of retained placenta, this is a clear risk of giving birth. The doctors and hospital have diagnosed the problem and instituted treatment. Unless there is something else that has happened such as you've been in agony and gone back to the hospital multiple times and they've ignored you, and then you've developed bloood poisoning ect I don't see the problem, and I don't see how you'd be able to get any case aginst them.
Sure complicatiosn are a hassle, no doubt with 4 kids at home, more so for you than other families, but standard complications are a risk with any procedure or anything we do or undertake and there is no one at fault. This is different to negligence, when like a surgeon leaves an instrument inside you ect
