Best option for cheap mobile phone for visitors use?

I'm after a mobile phone that can be used for about a month for some visitors. Just a basic phone would be necessary, no bells and whistles required, and I am thinking to just get a temporary SIM at 7-11.


Does anyone know what my options might be? Would a cheap 2nd hand phone from Mong Kok fit the bill, or are there other options?

I have got my from DSC in Windsor house (13F) I normally get one for $200-250. I keep buying them and my wife keeps giving them away.

Instead of MongKok, Shumshuipo, I would go to the RESIDENTIAL enclaves. Reason being : MK, ShumSP are like the Piccadily Circus, Times Sq (NYC) where peoples of all calibre go. Whereas residential enclaves are shops catering to mostly people who live there. The grandmothers, the domestic helpers, the students etc all buy from those stores. They can't afford for people keep returning to complain, to refix. They are the moms and pop calibre of shops that survive to the needs of the residents (many of whom run into each other). On HK side, I would go to North Point. There are 2 shop rt across from ICA Church. I have stood at the street corners seeing the above stories of what I related above.


Go the 2nd one. Since many domestic helpers go to them (from when they leave ICA which is attended by many domestic helpers), I think they must be able to speak English at the shop.


Incidentally, they fixed my Nokia amazingly when almost ALL the shops in CWB from around Sogo to around Times Sq all charged much higher and all telling me they cannot save the TExt Messages (Page). This one could. Only charged HK$150 (2 yrs ago).


I would buy their Preowned fones which comes with sth like 6 months gurantee. I have bought these for visitors. You can sell them as used phones and get some money back. Or donate them to St James Settlement in Wanchai for grassroots members of the community.
