Commuting times?

My girlfriend and I are moving to HK in August. We are both teachers, and will be working at KGV in Kowloon and WIS in Pok Fu Lam.

As they are a bit of a distance from eachother, where would be a good location to look at accommodation that has a fairly decent commute to both schools?

We were thinking Discovery Bay, making use of the ferry to central, or Stanley.

Are these sensible ideas, or are there better options?

Than you for contacting CAB. There is a long long list of property agents, but not many give an individual service, answer your queries, or give you general advice. We can recommend a Mrs. Giesela Landsmann who runs a small property agency, has been in the business for l5 years, and will give you a lot of advice FOC. without any obligation in any way. Mobile is 9744 9606 email is glandsmann@me.com. she comes highly recommended and gives a very personal service.

Regards

Stanley is also very expensive, and far from KGV. West Kowloon, yes, or Sheung Wan/Kennedy Town.

You would want to avoid the Central Tunnel to and from KGV if you're living on the Mid-levels. The east side of HK/KLN, can forget about it. West KLN seems to be the only choice, still traffic to go to KGV, yet close to Western Tunnel to Pok Fu Lam. Remember your work places have no MTR access, so you are recommended to check www.TD.gov.hk for public transportation such as double decker buses.

Rather than living inbetween the 2, why not live near to one of the schools and have one of you do the travelling. Also ask the teachers of those schools where they live. Around KGV will be cheaper. You might then buy a car for the other person to travel.

The ferry from Discovery Bay to WIS is a great option. Many teachers do the same every day so always someone to share a cab with. All in ferry and cab will only take about 45-50mins.

KGV is also really doable from DB - either via bus to Sunny Bay and MTR to Kowloon near the school. A couple of others also get the ferry accros to Central then up to TST where they share a cab, bit longer but easier nicer journey :)

Sheung Wan is really close to WIS, and easy for MTR to KGV so a good option.

Good luck! I work at ESF also so feel free to message me if you need more info :)
