Living in Sai Kung

Does Sai Kung have activities for expats who live in the area? I don't want to troll bars but would like to get to know more people in the area.

I am open to most anything - outdoor activities, or dinner / drinks.

Thanks for replying

I was in Sai Kung a few weeks back and I'm sure I saw some outdoor areas with people doing things. I pretty sure I saw a restaurant/bar as well but I could be mistaken.

Thanks Boddingtons - what I am looking for are community activities for expats so people can get to know other expats in the area.

Hope you took some pictures for posterity.

Those outdoor areas will soon be gone if the developers and ding rights supporters have their way.

Sai Kung is quickly becoming a 700 sq ft concrete box.

Do you run/hike? Play golf? Like watching sports on TV? Steamers Bar. Do you like music? The Boozer. Unless you're a mother who meets other parents through school or playgroups, bars are probably the best way to get to know other people, and I'd suggest you just amble into Steamers and the Boozer (almost next to each other, near the old part of town) and introduce yourself. You'll soon be meeting people who will become friends and before long will be arranging drinks and dinners at the many resto/s in Sai Kung and planning all sorts of activities together. But you need to get yourself out there first. Good luck and go for it!

I think you need Discovery Bay for that.

Cara

This is exactly what I would like to know more about - how do I find out about the activities? Are they posted somewhere or do I just find out about them by being in Sai Kung? I actually live in Tseung Kwan O but would like to spend more of my free time in the Sai Kung area than Central.

I know there a few activities that happen down at the Sai Kung sports ground. Touch rugby socials, and boot camp type activities. Not so sure who you would get in touch with though so I guess just head on down to the track after work in the evenings!
