Heard a lot about stem cells and the uses of it. Thinking if I should store the baby;s umbilical cord since studies show it has great advantages in the future.

We stored the stem cells of our firstborn, in case we would ever need any for medical treatments in the future for our kids...
Better to be safe than sorry right? If you can afford it... you can store them on the rare chance that it could save the life of your children if they have something wrong with them...
Of course, as Cara points out... one would hope that one would never have to use them, so it could also be considered a waste of money.

If mothers consider about cord blood banking, i think it is better to pick a cord blood bank with branches overseas. In case the family needs to be back to hometown or need transplant in an other country, there is still overseas connection and support for transporting the stem cells stored.

What about donating the cord blood? Anyone have any news about that in HK ?

I would like to know if most mothers picked the cord blood banks with international background?
