Hi iam moving to HK with my family this month. I have obtained work visa from my employer in HK. I want to know how much time does it take to get a HK ID card made. Also do we need to make an appointment in advance with the immigration department? Do we get the appointment easily or is there a waiting time o get an appointment? My visa is a single entry work visa. Will this convert into a multiple entry visa automatically once I have a HK ID?

Thanks.

just take your passport with HK visa to immigration

appointment is better

you go on the time, get photographed, fingerprint scanned and they will give you a temporary paper ID, and you can pick up the actual HKID after 10-15 days

single entry is actual a multiple entry, you can enter and exit with your HKID without any problems.

Thanks a lot for your response. Can you advise me how much time does it take to get an appointment? Can I get an appointment online before I reach Hong Kong? Can you share the website to make the appointment. Thanks
