I want to go to Hong Kong for the week of the 18th-20th of January for my Birthday and to purchase tax free electronics for myself. I'd like to know if there are any suggested districts to go to where I can go on an eltronic shopping spree, in a vibrant area where there are great restaurants, a classy nightlife scene, well as local favorite venues. Any and all solicited advice word be appreciated.

Dear BT,
Are you from DakeTrade? If so what is the address of you establishment and your website so I can see the quality of your electronics. Are any of the other amenities I stated above around your DakeTrade storefront area? Or is this a website that I can make a transaction with. Even in Shanghai I can get quality electronics! I'm simply wishing to get tax free stuff with HK freedoms.
Hopeful,
PM

I want to buy a new iphone. On the main land some features are blocked (like google) when you purchase an iphone here. I've been told in order to avoid this I should buy one in HK. I aslo want to buy a dslr camera and an ipad. I know that electronics are priced the same no matter where you go, but avoiding high taxes makes buy electronics in HK enticing.

There are no taxes in Hong Kong anywhere for consumer goods, so you don't need to worry about that once you're here. Otherwise you just need to negotiate the price.
For iPhone/iPad the obvious place is the Apple store, but if you can't score one there there's a large mobile phone mall in Mong Kok on the corner of Argyle and Tung Choi street. Right at the north end of the Ladies market.
Computer/Ipad stuff can be found at the Wan Chai computer center right outside the MTR station or 298 Hennessey Road.
For the DSLR there's places all around, including Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, or outside that mobile phone mall in Mongkok I mentioned above.

Check out price.com.hk for best prices. Many merchants have retail shops. Just beware that some are parallel goods, which means you do get original goods w/o local warranty. (International warranty still comes with the box.) Stay away from big name stores. You end up paying 20-40% more w/o the benefits of returns/repairs since you do not reside in HK. Happy shopping.
