I bought a top of the range computer over two weeks ago, required urgently for my small business. Had I been told the truth at point of sale I would have looked at a more readily available brand.
The company's sales representative assured me that if I bought a computer there and then it would be delivered in 7 days. I have now been waiting 15 days and I have just been told that in another 2 to 4 days a logistics company might deliver just the monitor to me. I'm sure they must realise that the monitor on its own is no good without the computer and I fear that this is just a stalling tactic. Meanwhile I am being told that they are still waiting parts for this computer in China and they are still unable to give any availability or delivery date.
If I had been told this at the outset I could have taken a decision on whether or not to buy this model of computer but as it is I am now being held to ransom. Am I within my rights to cancel the purchase and obtain a refund? Is there any point complaining to the Consumer Council?

Have you asked them to refund your money so you can buy a computer somewhere else?

I think a refund is probably the answer because if their after sales service is anything like the service being received now, if it breaks down then I'm on my own. The problem was that each time I chased it I was given a different story and told delivery was imminent, and then the logistics company used kept phoning to arrange delivery of the monitor, not seeming to understand that without the computer delivery of the monitor on its own was a waste of time.
The computer was bought and paid for on 7 January and the latest delivery date I have been given is 2nd February, and that was given by a senior manager. The reason given for it taking a month to deliver..........The delay in delivery is due to material shortage, which at the time of sales were not known to us, and the earliest the material can be supplied to our factory is Jan 29th. I have checked to ensure that the material will arrive on time and that we will do everything possible to build your order once we receive the materials......and that the order will be delivered on Feb 2, which is the earliest date possible.
