My new job can offer me monthly cash allowance, but on the contract it said this is based on that my spouse do not receive a similar cash allowance from his employer. Can I still apply? Is this true or very common?
I still want to have the cash allowance because my husband and I are actually very indepent to each other. If that is the case, I think it is unfair for the one spouse who can not apply due to such requirement.
Can anybody help and give me some advice? Thx a lot..

I have seen this type of clause in government employment contracts. (Hong Kong Hospital Authority, for example.) My guess is that it could be standard with certain types of employers.
Try to see if your husband's employer can be flexible. Can they change his allowance to basic salary. That would solve your problem.
