To be honest there is no dedicated DIY shop in HK.

DIY is rarely done by anyone in HK.

However I do a lot, you can visit areas in Mongkok( Reclamation st,shanghai, bute, canton rd etc)

Wanchai - Thomson rd for tools .

you will find a lot of little hardware stores in hong kong,i mean little but you will be surprised at the amount of stuff they have hidde.

Big tip ,use google images to show shop person what you are after- a picture says a 1000 words.

I go to Thomson Rd Wanchai. I have just purchased in that last 6 month a lot of tools and got them all from a few different shops there.

Thomson road is ok for tools, but they are slightly higher than mongkok,be careful though of western prices there!!!

milwaukee tools in canton rd in mongkok have some good prices. However there are plenty of brand new and second hand shops in mongkok but its up to the quality and price you want to pay.

Always do a amazon/ebay etc price search first as it gives you a good reference point.

Mong Kok is cheapest but there are tool shops in most districts and the prices are only slightly more than MK; so it might not be worth the shoe leather to travel to MK and then lug the stuff back. I have always been inpressed with makita tools for drills etc. Green tools are cheaper but for home use. Blue tools are a bit more expensive and for professionals so better power and durability. If you are going to use the tools for a few years? pay the extra for good quality. Don't get the American stuff Dewalt, rubbish and as bad as the old UK Snap On tools (usually snapped off). Black and Decker also not a durable as good Japanese tools
