Hi there,
Thank you in advance for reading. I'm a hong kong permanent resident whom grew up overseas.
I worked in China for a few year and was hoping to return to hong kong for work preferably in marketing (my English and Chinese are both fluent).
My issue is while I have a degree, I cannot produce a copy of it (long story: my wallet and luggage got stolen a while ago, my wallet had my social insurance card and I need the number to access my academic record....and believe it or not, my lost cards will take a year(I'm as shocked as you) to replace )
Have employers actually requested to see your degree when applying for positions? If so, do you have any suggestions on what I could do?
Thanks for reading.

There are employers that verify your cv and ask for copies of degrees, letters from previous employers, etc,, etc. In my experience after the offer has been signed they will ask for all the documentation and do the background checks. I have also seen offers withdrawn after applicants misrepresented facts. The issue is generally not the applicants capabilities, but that the applicant is not reliable. Checks seem to be more and more prevalent. If you cannot produce your degree, would suggest you are upfront about this to the employer.
